Spencer Herbert, NDP MLA for Vancouver-Burrard and Opposition Critic for Arts and Culture, was in Nelson-Creston March 23. After volunteering with Michelle at the Salmo monthly soup kitchen, Spencer toured Nelson arts facilities, then gave a talk at Oxygen Art Gallery.Spencer highlighted the 50% cuts the Liberal government is proposing to Arts and Culture. In both good and bad ecnomoic times, arts and culture are strong local economic drivers, and these cuts will hurt our local economies rather than stimulate them.
