Why You Should Vote for Me

With two weeks away to the final vote count, things are heating up. Let me take a moment to tell you why I am your best choice for the NDP MLA candidate.

Experience
I have been active in politics for 22 years. Since childhood, I have always spoken out and organized for the benefit of my community. To ensure that the NDP had representation in each constituency, I ran for MLA in Alberta in the final year of my Political Science degree. A year later, I ran for Nelson City Council and won, placing third out of nineteen candidates. My experience of serving on Nelson City Council skyrocketed me into a deeper understanding of the issues important to the Nelson-Creston residents. Serving as an elected City Councillor also afforded me the opportunity to develop important and long-lasting relationships with organizations, government agencies and government leaders. The strong relationships I have developed will be of great assistance to our region when I serve as your MLA. For example, in my capacity as City Councillor, I have had the advantage of working with the Nelson-Creston Liberal opponent both in his capacity as RDCK Director and Chair of CBT. I understand his weaknesses and his strengths. Additionally, through this relationship and many others, I have developed a strong working understanding of the RDCK and the Columbian Basin Trust.

Energy
Like other NDP MLAs who have been elected in their thirties, I have the potential and the energy to serve our communities long and well. I have no doubt that as the MLA candidate, I will be able to maintain Nelson-Creston as an NDP constituency, and bring a strong voice to the Legislature. The road leading to a win on May 12 will not be easy, and will need many of us. I have the ability and experience to pull in a great team with the energy for what lies ahead.

Enthusiasm
My experience has shown me that one of my strongest characteristics is the enthusiasm I bring to the job of working with bureaucracies. I get the job done. I understand government and the processes for making a positive difference for our region because I have worked with many of our MLAs and served as a City Councillor.

Commitment
I am committed to our Kootenay region. This is my home. This is where I have settled and bought a house. I am committed to serving our communities. The social justice and sustainability values of the NDP are my values. I have been carrying my NDP membership card for nine years. I will bring those values to the Legislature and make sure that our communities benefit from strong representation.

Please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to chatting with you.
